Blu-Zen Massage and Spa Center is a small hole-in-the-wall type of an express spa facility located on Calatagan Street in Makati near Cash and Carry. They offer various types of massage from European, Swedish, Thai, Shiva's to name a few. Just like any other businesses, Blu-Zen has promos like the introductory price of their new Slimtonic Massage for only Php400* per session. The European massage however was the deal that I bought from Ensogo for only Php150 at a 50% off rate.

It was quite a unique experience to have tried Blu-Zen's European massage. They have this different technique of using the therapist's arm blades and fists, varying the pressure from moderate to hard, depending on the customer's needs. 

Blu-Zen massage techniques will relax the body, targeting the parts that normally suffer from stress, most especially the upper and lower backs, and the thighs and legs. 

Blu-Zen's signature massage technique is the use of Orange Oil, which gives a relaxing and healing scent in the entire one-hour spa session. Blu-Zen recommends undergoing this massage at least twice a week, with four days in between for further body relief.

CLEANLINESS / SANITATION

The one thing they most certainly neglect was the washroom. The effort was there to design the sink with pebbles on the sink connecting with the outside theme. However, the stink smell of the washroom just turned me off.  Guest may also feel doubtful on the sheets as it smelled like it was used by a few customers already. And there were no pillowcase. 

PRIVACY / SECURITY

There was no place to put your stuffs on. Though they offered to keep it on the cabinet underneath the counter top outside the massage room, you cannot feel relaxed knowing you're stuff was just there. What if there are a lot of guests especially on peak hours? I'm sure the cabinet couldn't hold everyone's belongings and the staffs wouldn't be sure to keep an eye on them the whole time.

QUALITY OF MASSAGE

The European massage was great. I left the place smelling so yummy orange.

FACILITIES

Since it's just small, there were nothing much except the massage rooms which were divided by curtains. 

STAFF ETIQUETTE

The staffs were friendly and polite. The sad part was they weren't trained well to do what customers' expect them to do. Guests, whether first timers or spa enthusiasts, should be served well. When we were lead to the tiny massage space, the staffs didn't prepare the robes or towels we should use then they asked if we were ready. We asked what were we expected to do since they didn't instruct us that we should get ready for the massage proper and that were we supposed to be fully naked? It was the only time that they gave us towels.

VALUE FOR MONEY

If the quality of massage is the only component to gauge if the Php150 was valuable, I may agree. But people availing of these deals from group buying sites are expecting to get quality discounts. Paying Php150 seems like the actual worth of the entire service and not a discount. Thus, making the customers feel fooled. The pictures on the Ensogo site are the evidence too. The photos are already false advertisement. 

VALUE FOR TIME

Sure they started on time, but the staffs' knowledge on the proper procedures prolonged the waiting. Also, if customers are only up for a quick good massage, then this one is valuable. But if you are looking for a relaxing massage just right before going home to sleep, or impressing someone, or giving it as a gift, then this is waste of time. 

Do I recommend Blu-Zen Massage and Spa Center to other people? No.

Will I go back to Blu-Zen Massage and Spa Center? No.

Comments and Suggestions:

Keeping the washroom clean is a very big plus. Add at least a tissue roll on the inventory for customers to use.

My first GBS (Group Buying Site) spa deal was bought from CashCashPinoy which served as a bridal shower treat for a dear friend of mine. 

Who wouldn't be delighted with their offer of "80% OFF! Be Glamorous with these Beauty Packages! Only P499 for a body scrub, body massage and hair spa at All About Nails Spa"? 

One of GBS' standard procedures is to print out the voucher for the merchant. Before I availed of their promo, I called them and asked if they accept photo of the voucher instead of a print out. I just thought that the voucher is too big to be consumed with one short bond paper when all that really mattered was the serial number. When they agreed, I immediately bought four vouchers. Upon reservation, I was politely informed by the staff that they could only accommodate two person at a time due to the limited rooms available. 

We booked an appointment on a Monday at 2pm Manila time. It was a great day for all of us; a sunny weather and light traffic

We got there right on time but got a bit lost. We were told that they're in front of SaveMore but were not exactly correct. There was a salon and spa directly in front of it which we have mistakenly thought of the establishment we were looking for. I contacted the phone number indicated on the voucher just in time to see a tarpaulin pointing where the spa is.

The place was super girly with the pink and white patterned wallpaper. The room was well lit and its setting pretty neat and cozy. There were three comfy couches, a stack of women's magazines, autographed photo of the Asia's songbird Regine Velasquez, and a cute counter with a set of nail polishes on the double panel shelf.

It was a spectacular experience because it seemed like we owned the place. We were the only ones there and the staffs were all accommodating. They let us take photos of the place's different angles. It was fun and relaxing.

When we were almost done, customers started queuing. To sum it all up, here's how they score.

CLEANLINESS / SANITATION

The place is clean, from the entrance, to the rooms, particularly the shower area.

PRIVACY / SECURITY

There were only two rooms divided by a curtain. A guest who will be designated on the far end will have to go out of the main area (sala) to go the shower area. If there were male customers sitting on the main area, a female guest may find it inconvenient to go out with only a towel or a robe on.

QUALITY OF MASSAGE

The massage was just average maybe because it was a combo package with the body scrub and hair spa. The staff however didn't bother asking if the pressure was fine.

FACILITIES

I am not sure if its intentional or part of company procedure but I find it weird that a desk lamp was used to focus on my feet during pedicure.

STAFF ETIQUETTE

The staff were all friendly, accommodating, and upbeat. They are also courteous and happy. Though promotional sales are common in this field of business, I personally didn't like it when people continuously encourage us to avail of this and that. 

VALUE FOR MONEY

Upon four of us finishing our sessions, three out of four voted that it was worth it.

VALUE FOR TIME

They started on time and we appreciate the heads up that there were only two rooms. So we were able to adjust our schedules and didn't waste any minute.

Do I recommend All About Nails Spa to other people? YES.

Will I go back to All About Nails Spa? YES.

Additional rooms would be awesome especially during girls date out, group guests will most certainly appreciate not having to wait longer for their turns.
